Treasury yields fell after the midterm elections, giving commercial property owners and borrowers a reason to revisit financing plans. The U.S. Treasury’s daily 10-year yield declined from 4.95% on November 3 to 4.90% on November 4.
Lower benchmark yields may improve financing conditions, but borrowers should review current lender spreads, fees, repayment terms and cash flow before making a decision. Proposed policy changes should also be separated from enacted rules when assessing development costs.
